Wastewater Treatment Plants

The City of Winter Haven operates two wastewater treatment plants that treat approximately 5 million gallons of wastewater per day to a very high standard of water quality.

Wastewater Treatment Plant #2

Located in the north part of the City near the Florence Villa Community and is permitted to treat approximately 1.7 million gallons per day, but receives about 1.1 million gallons per day. This highly treated water is then distributed to golf courses, cemeteries, parks, subdivisions, and commercial locations for irrigating landscapes.

Wastewater Treatment Plant #3

Located on the south side of Winter Haven and is permitted to treat approximately 7.5 million gallons per day of wastewater but receives about 4.5 million gallons per day, also to reuse quality standards.

The City has completed constructing a pumping facility, storage facility, and transmission main in order to use and distribute reuse water for irrigation. Currently, the majority of this water is discharged to the Peace Creek Canal which flows into the Peace River on its way to Charlotte Harbor. This treated water also supplements the Master Reuse system, a network of pipes that are designed separate from drinking water systems, to administer reuse water to its users throughout the City.
