Special Investigations

Responsibilities

The Winter Haven Police Department's Special Investigations Unit is comprised of narcotics detectives maintaining a close working relationship with the general crime detectives.

The Special Investigations Unit investigates complaints of controlled substance violations, prostitution, and other related crimes. A variety of tactics are used to combat these problems within the community.

Crime Analysis

The Crime and Research Analyst is responsible for gathering, collating, reviewing, and publishing statistical and analytical reports that reflect the state of the agency and the crime trends in the city.

This Unit also conducts research and development on special projects, obtains grants, and assists other members as directed by the Chief of Police.

Crime Statistics

The Winter Haven Police Department voluntarily participates in reporting major incidents of crimes committed within the City to the Federal Bureau of Investigation through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. This report is known as the Uniform Crime Report (UCR). This statistical information provides for comparisons of all participating agencies with respect to their reported crimes and the incidents resolved.
