"Rowdy" Gaines Olympic Pool

The “Rowdy” Gaines Olympic Pool (RGOP) is an Olympic-size competitive pool measuring 25 yards by 50 meters, with water depths of 4 feet at each end and 6½ feet in the center. The pool is equipped with competitive starting blocks and is heated and open year-round.

The RGOP is used for competitive swimming, swim instruction, and recreational programs.

  • Long Course Lap Swim is best suited for swimmers looking to fitness swim the full 50-meter distance.

  • Short Course Lap Swim is ideal for those wanting to fitness swim or water walk/exercise the 25-yard length of the pool.

  • Recreational Swim is designed for families and individuals looking to swim leisurely in a relaxed environment.

In addition, the facility features a separate diving well with two 1-meter and two 3-meter springboards, supporting diving practice and instruction.

Summer Hours (March 16th through September 7th)

  • Morning Lap Swim (Short Course):
    10 am to 1 pm (Monday through Friday)
  • Recreational / Open Swim:
    1 pm to 5 pm (Monday through Sunday)
  • Evening Lap Swim (Short Course):
    5 pm to 7 pm (Monday through Thursday.)

Winter Hours (September 7th through March 16th)

  • Morning Adult Lap Swim (Long Course):
    10 am to 12 pm (Monday through Friday)
  • Afternoon Adult Lap Swim (Short Course):
  • 12 pm to 2 pm (Monday through Friday.)
  • Recreational / Open Swim:
  • 12 pm to 2 pm (Monday through Friday)

The Winter Haven Recreation and Cultural Center (WHRCC) pool features a zero-depth entry into a pool that expands to a 5ft deep lap swim area with 2 25-yard lanes.    

  • WHRCC Pool will be closed until Summer of 2026.

WHRCC Splash Pad

Splash Pad at Trailhead Park

The Splash Pad at Trailhead Park is a new amenity for families to enjoy together. This space has two first-come-first-serve shaded picnic table areas, an on-site bathroom and is open year-round.
