‘Rowdy’ Gaines Olympic Pool

The ‘Rowdy’ Gaines Olympic Pool has an Olympic size (25 yards x 50 meters) competitive pool, which is 4 feet deep on each end and 6 1/2 feet in the middle. This pool has competitive starting blocks and is used for competitive swimming, swim instruction and recreational use. In addition, there is a separate diving well with (2) 1 meter and (2) 3 meter spring boards. The "Rowdy" Gaines Olympic Pool is heated and open year-round.

The Winter Haven Recreation & Cultural Center (WHRCC) pool is an “L” shaped pool measuring 25 yards x 25 meters. The pool is used for swim instruction and recreational use from mid-May through August.

The Splash Pad at Trailhead Park is a new amenity and just one more reason for families to come out and enjoy our cities diverse downtown atmosphere. This space has two first come first serve shaded picnic table areas, on site bathroom and open year round from 10am – 7pm.

Aquatic Activities at the "Rowdy" Gaines Pool

Diving Lessons

Three time Olympic diver Erick Fornaris will teach the basic fundamentals of springboard diving. Classes will include, but are not restricted to, stretching techniques, proper body alignment, body position, how to properly enter the eater head first, front and back take-offs, variation of jumping positions, and front and back dives. These skills are gained on the diving board and will enable participants to progress towards more advanced dives. Participants will have an opportunity to learn dives/jumps off the 1 meter and 3 meter springboards. For more information, please call the Aquatics Office at (863) 291-5656.

Winter HavenStingrays Swim Team
The Winter Haven Stingrays Swim Team is a USA registered age group and mast swim team that practices and competes year round.  A swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke and be at least 5 years of age.  Practices are held Monday through Saturday at the Rowdy Gaines Pool.  For more information, contact Mary Dilorenzo at 863-287-9279 or visit their webpage
